Man, I remember growing up in south Alabama in 1968. Nothin' to do, nowhere to go. No money, no car, no hopes of getting laid...no idea how to even get laid. But we had our music, I didn't like the Beach Boys, or Fabian, not to mention Ferlin Husky or Elvis. What turned me on was Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Black Oak Arkansas...but you couldn't get that on the redneck airwaves. So late at night I would turn on the old tube type AM radio to KAAY, Little Rock, Arkansas. There was a dude named Clyde Clifford, he dj'd late night what they called 'underground music'. The show was called Beeker Street. Man, it was cool! And one night between fading in and out on the airways I could here something about Jack Johnson and doin' the Eagle Rock up and down the pier. Man, it was different! I listened every night for about two weeks until they played it again. It was cool! It took about two months to order the album but I got it and I still have it. Now I'm 43 yrs old, and I still listen to Jethro Tull, Frank Zappa, etc., with my 17 & 14 yr old sons and especially The Legend of the USS Titanic and they think that its just as cool as I did. Thanks, Jaime.....

Jaime's two songs will be part of a compilation cd with a bunch of other (mostly San Francisco) artists. It's a project I'll be working on over the next year, and is loosely based on the "All-Star Jams" I host once a month at San Francisco's Paradise Lounge. It's basically a chance for me to release a cd that features my friends and jam regulars and personal favorite local musicians. Finances dictate that I take it slow - at this point, I've just begun work on the project. Jaime's songs are done though, and he may have his own independent plans for them - which is fine with me. Otherwise, look for a release in early 1998.

Jaime and Barry I'm glad to see the Jaime Brockett page here, it answers questions I've had for nearly 30 years. I'd love to see a reissue of "Remember the Wind and the Rain"; I haven't heard the others but I'd be interested in hearing them as well. It must be wierd to be best known for a (GREAT) stoner novelty song and not your more serious work. Lets hear more of it. Thanks Greg Cotton P.S. add me to the list!

Jaimie, I can't believe it. I used to listen to you on Beeker St. on KAAY. The last time I heard you was in Nederland and the song "American Car" was just starting to take shape. Remember that party? I think I actually heard that song on NPR's "Car Guys" a few years ago. Please let me know if I can still get your recordings.
Thank You. Randy

This is unbelievable! Just those fragmented memories of "Titanic" and no way to successfully explain the Brockett experience to any of the under-30 folk with whom I work and sometimes go out. So, the last thing I ever expected to chance upon while surfing the Net was this home page. At last a way to share my view that The Collected Jaime Must See the Light of Day on CD! Let it be told to any and all indie labels with the power to cross-license catalog recordings. Undo this artistic injustice NOW!! (Isn't there at least one import disc to speak of?!?) And, thanks for listening.

Jaime might not have thought too much of "Titanic", but I think it rivaled "Alice's Restaurant" in creativity, execution, and E-N-T-H-U-S-I-A-S-M-! A timeless CLASSIC!
